Dioptervisierung Gewehr: Perfektes Visierbild für Sportschützen

With aperture sights the shooter's eye centres circles automatically, so the sight picture is about even white space rather than conscious alignment. The rear aperture should show the front ring centred, and the front ring should surround the black bull with an even band of white all the way round. That white ring should be clearly visible — a front ring that hugs the bull too tightly makes small errors invisible, and one that is far too large makes centring imprecise. Focus on the front ring, not the target.

Why aperture sights are different

A pistol shooter aligns a post in a notch and has to judge two relationships at once. A rifle shooter looking through an aperture is using a visual system that is very good at centring one circle inside another without conscious effort. The job is therefore to give the eye clean circles and even light, and then not interfere.

Choosing the front ring

  • Too small: the bull nearly fills the ring, errors are hidden and the shot feels good until you see the target.
  • Too large: plenty of white, but centring becomes vague and the hold looks worse than it is.
  • About right: a clear, even white band that you notice immediately when it goes uneven.
  • Light changes everything: a ring that works in bright light can be too small in a dim hall.

Where to focus

Focus on the front ring. The target may look slightly soft, and that is correct. Trying to sharpen the black bull pulls focus forward, and the white band stops being the thing you are reading.

Eye relief and head position should be identical every shot, since both change how much white you see.

Light on the range

Changing light changes the apparent size of the black bull and the contrast of the white ring, and can move your point of impact even though nothing about your technique changed. Note the lighting conditions with your results so you can tell a light change from a technique change.

Was du noch nicht ändern solltest

  • Do not change front ring size mid-series to chase a group.
  • Do not adjust the sights before ruling out a change in light.

ShootMind-Prinzip

Give the eye an even white ring and it will centre the shot for you.
